Free Health and Safety Inspections for Veterans
Safe Homes. Strong Futures.
The Home Integrity Project (HIP) provides free environmental and safety inspections to veterans across New Jersey.
We identify hidden hazards like mold, radon, poor water quality, and safety risks — issues that can seriously impact veterans with PTSD, TBI, respiratory conditions, or mobility challenges.
No cost to veterans. No strings attached.
Who We Serve
NJ veterans homeowners and renters
Especially those with health concerns, service-connected disabilities, or aging-in-place needs
About the Program
The Home Integrity Project is fiscally sponsored by Veterans Collaborative, a nonprofit dedicated to improving veteran health and housing.
Inspections are performed by licensed professionals with experience serving the veteran community.
What’s Included in the Free Inspection
Mold & air quality testing
Radon testing (if needed)
Water quality testing (lead, bacteria, nitrates)
Home hazard screening (fall risks, HVAC, basic safety)
Educational materials + resource guide for veterans
Follow-up support if hazards are found
Why It Matters
Environmental hazards are invisible threats.
Mold, radon, or contaminated water can silently worsen health — especially for veterans with PTSD, chronic pain, or respiratory issues. HIP inspections help veterans stay safe, independent, and informed.
